My Story

Hi, I'm Malin, born and bred in Sweden and recently relocated to Oslo, Norway. The last two decades I've been based in England, Australia and Hong Kong and have a deep understanding of the feelings of overwhelm you often experience when moving and settling into a new country.

Also, while working in Human Resources I witnessed how prolonged and intense job pressures negatively impacts people. In fact, I was very close to burnout myself on more than one occasion. These experiences combined with my lifelong enthusiasm for psychology, made me passionate about improving peoples' mental health.

Leva Counselling is as a safe space where you can explore and overcome life issues, in a non-judgmental and confidential setting. Leva means to live (in my native Swedish language). It refers to the simple concept of how regaining balance in your mind, can make you feel more confident, content and in control of your life.

When not working you can normally find me exploring the Norwegian countryside together with my family, friends and rescue dog Luna.

Experience

Counselling Approach

You are unique and have your own specific experiences and challenges so I use a tailor-made approach for each person I work with. I utilise many different types of evidence-based therapies and specialise in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),  Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Mindfulness Techniques. These can assist in providing insights, tools and strategies to improve your wellbeing.

Although I've worked with multicultural individuals faced with a wide range of issues, I specialise in clients experiencing stress and anxiety  whatever the source might be (relocation/parent/work/academic pressure/social) and often focus on developing low self-esteem.
